When a customer is purchasing a car scale, in addition to considering the performance of the car scale body, sensors, instruments, and other accessories, what cannot be ignored is the foundation of the car scale. The suitability of the foundation directly affects the service life and weighing accuracy of a car scale. Moreover, it is crucial to choose the appropriate foundation based on the actual environment of the customer's site.

 

There are generally three types of foundation pits for electronic truck scales, namely no foundation pit, shallow foundation pit, and foundation pier type.

 

Car scales without foundation pits can be installed above the ground and can be cleaned regularly without water accumulation, making the cost relatively cheap;

 

Shallow foundation pit refers to the installation method where a truck scale is installed in the foundation pit, and the surface of the scale platform is level with the ground;

 

The foundation pier type generally adds 200-300mm foundation piers on the basis of no foundation pit or shallow foundation pit, which is convenient for cleaning. It is often used in situations where debris and particles are often dropped, which is convenient for cleaning and prevents the weighing platform from being stuck by hard objects and affecting the weighing accuracy.

 

Considering the convenience and cost of construction, the most common installation method is the non foundation pit full electronic truck scale.

 

Precautions for no foundation pit: It is necessary to pour concrete to approach the slope, and it is relatively difficult for vehicles to scale. If necessary, safety guardrails should be provided. For safety reasons, the installation height of truck scales without foundation pits is generally controlled at around 0.5m.

 

Precautions for shallow foundation pits: Due to high investment, proper drainage is required.

 

The use of deep foundation pits is very rare, and it is generally not recommended for customers to use them, as the construction excavation to a certain depth will require the design institute to design according to the local soil quality, suitable for colder areas in the north.

 

A good truck scale foundation is usually expensive, and choosing a suitable location to make the foundation is also particularly crucial.

Grounding principle: Ensure that the grounding resistance is less than 4 ohms- The vertical and horizontal steel bars in the foundation concrete need to be tied with 16 # iron wire at more than 50% of the intersection points, and the anchor bolts in each area must be firmly welded with the steel mesh to form a distributed grounding network- Vertically drive four angle steels (at least 2m deep) near the conduit and weld them into the foundation grounding grid. If the weighing room is more than 15m away from the foundation, grounding piles need to be installed near the weighing room. For explosion-proof scales, they must be buried outside the weighing room and about 200mm away from the wall. If the scale is modified, additional grounding piles must be added if the foundation grounding resistance does not meet the requirement of less than 4 ohms.

 

Finally, there is a crucial point in foundation construction: after the construction of foundation pier concrete, standard curing must be carried out for at least 5-7 days, or the concrete strength must reach 70% of the standard strength before the installation of the truck scale body can be carried out. In principle, it is necessary to meet the standard curing period of concrete, which is generally 28 days or more at room temperature before the lane can be opened for traffic.
